Reactive vasodilation predicts mortality in primary systemic light-chain amyloidosis
Circulation Research Oct 05, 2019
Stamatelopoulos K, Georgiopoulos G, Athanasouli F, et al. - Researchers focused on the prognostic usefulness of a marker of vascular reactivity, flow-mediated dilatation (FMD), which is augmented under conditions of hypotension and autonomic dysfunction, in 115 newly diagnosed untreated light-chain amyloidosis (AL) patients, to ultimately assess vascular dysfunction in AL patients as a potential future area of intervention. The participants were prospectively assessed and had FMD measured. Findings revealed that relatively increased FMD was detected in patients with AL. Also, FMD was found to be independently related to inferior survival with substantial reclassification value.
