Rationale, study design and methodology of the LANDMARC trial: A 3-year, pan-India, prospective, longitudinal study to assess management and real-world outcomes of diabetes mellitus
Diabetic Medicine Nov 14, 2019
Das AK, Mithal A, Kumar KMP, et al. - Researchers conducted this LANDMARC study, first prospective, multicentre, longitudinal, observational study, not only to accurately identify the disease burden of diabetes in India but also to assess the progression of macrovascular and microvascular complications in these people over time and to analyze their regional occurrence. The role of an effective treatment strategy in preventing diabetic complications and the course of the disease will be evaluated in this report. A total of 6,300 candidates, aged 25 to 60 years, diagnosed with T2D for at least 2 years will be involved from 450 centres across India. This investigation is expected to show patterns in diabetes-related complications, treatment approaches used by doctors, and correlation among treatment, control, and complications of diabetes within the Indian context. The outcomes of this research will help identify the burden of disease, the occurrence of early-onset complications and patterns of dose titration, and eventually develop person-centered treatment and promote the expenditure of appropriate resources in diabetes management by public health agencies.
