Randomised, prospective clinical trial of platelet-rich plasma injection in the management of severe dry eye

British Journal of Ophthalmology Jul 07, 2018

Avila MY, et al. - Authors assessed the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections in the treatment of severe dry eye. Results demonstrated the safety and efficacy of PRP injection in improving tear parameters as well as subjective parameters. Experts noted superiority of PRP injection to hyaluronic acid alone in the management of patients with severe dry eye and this represented a novel alternative treatment in the severe dry eye. They also noted an improvement in subjective Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) values.
