Radial vs femoral access for percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: Trial sequential analysis
American Heart Journal May 06, 2020
Osman M, Saleem M, Osman K, et al. - The present study was conducted to compare radial assess with femoral access for percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. A trial sequential analysis (TSA) of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted to compare transradial access and transfemoral access in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Thirty-day mortality, major bleeding, major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), myocardial infarction (MI), stroke, and access site complications were the major outcomes. Researchers included a total of 17 studies including with a total of 11,992 patients in the current TSA. The available evidence from RCTs support enhanced 30-day mortality, major bleeding, MACE and access site complication rates in STEMI individuals treated by PCI through the radial access.
