Quantitative analysis of retinal and choroid capillary ischaemia using optical coherence tomography angiography in type 2 diabetes

Acta Ophthalmologica Mar 03, 2019

Li L, et al. - In this cross-sectional study, researchers used optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) to quantitatively analyze retinal and choroid capillary ischaemia in diabetic patients. There were a total of 97 patients with type 2 diabetes and 48 controls. According to findings, the microvascular ischaemia originated in the choroid layer and extended inward affecting the deep and superficial layer in diabetic patients. Investigators suggested that OCTA can be used as a reliable method for early detection and monitoring of diabetic retinopathy progressions.
