Prostatic ductal adenocarcinoma controlled for cancer grade and tumor volume does not have an independent effect on adverse radical prostatectomy outcomes compared with usual acinar prostatic adenocarcinoma
Urology Jan 08, 2020
Iakymenko OA, Lugo I, Kwon D, et al. - Researchers studied 121 prostatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDA) and 1,141 acinar continuous radical prostatectomy (RP) results in order to investigate if PDA controlled by Grade Group (GG), PSA, and tumor volume (TV) was an autonomous predictor of opposing RP consequences. In 127 cases PDA appeared in 1 tumor nodule (TN) and no TN was true PDA. And 123 cases reported PDA in TNs with the greatest grade, stage, and tumor volume (TV). It was found that controlled for grade and TV, PDA was not an autonomous predictor of adverse RP issues, but the former two were. Therefore, greater grade group and TV correlated with PDA TNs might be predictive of adverse RP consequences rather than PDA by itself. Moreover, these outcomes might be utilized in preoperative risk stratification and definitive therapy planning when PDA was recognized on needle biopsy.
