Progression of inflammatory bowel diseases throughout Latin America and the Caribbean: A systematic review
Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology Jul 28, 2019
Kotze PG, et al. - Given that the incidence of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) is increasing in Latin America, researchers identified clinical and epidemiologic characteristics of IBD in Latin America (including Mexico, Central America, and South America) and the Caribbean. According to this systematic review, the incidence and prevalence of IBD in Latin America and the Caribbean have been steadily increasing. Population-based epidemiology studies are required to assess the increase in IBD in these regions that differ in climate, culture, demographics, diet, health care delivery and infrastructure, and socioeconomic status from other global regions.
