Prognostic value of hyperuricemia in patients with acute coronary syndrome: A meta-analysis
European Journal of Clinical Investigation Feb 05, 2019
He C, et al. - Via searching comprehensive literature in Pubmed, Embase, VIP, CNKI, and WanFang databases up to June 16, 2018, researchers evaluated the prognostic value of hyperuricemia in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). All observational studies investigating the prognostic value of hyperuricemia have been selected in ACS patients. A total of 9 studies have been included and analyzed involving 8,776 ACS patients. After adjustment for the conventional risk factors, ACS patients with hyperuricemia had an increased risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs), all-cause mortality, and cardiovascular mortality. In ACS patients, hyperuricemia independently predicted MACEs and death. Findings suggested that determining the uric acid level can improve the risk stratification of adverse outcomes in ACS patients.
