Prognostic significance of preoperative albumin-to-globulin ratio and prognostic nutritional index combined score in Siewert type 3 adenocarcinoma of esophagogastric junction
Cancer Management and Research Aug 19, 2019
Wang Y, Zhu Z, Li C, et al. - Using univariate and multivariate analyses, researchers assessed whether overall survival (OS) outcomes in patients with Siewert type 3 adenocarcinoma of esophagogastric junction (S3-AEG) could be predicted by a combined score of the albumin-to-globulin ratio (AGR) and prognostic nutritional index (PNI) employed preoperatively. They found an independent link of OS with the N stage and AGR-PNI score. In patients with stage I + II and stage III S3-AEGs, AGR-PNI had a significant prognostic role. In ROC analysis, the AGR-PNI score displayed better predictive ability compared with other parameters. Overall, findings revealed the prognostic significance of preoperative AGR-PNI score for postoperative survival in patients with S3-AEG. In addition, this score could enable the recognization of high-risk populations for reasonable therapy and effective follow-up.
