Prognostic significance of incidental non-sustained ventricular tachycardia detected on pacemaker interrogation

The American Journal of Cardiology Nov 11, 2018

Jamil HA, et al. - Whether increased mortality is related to asymptomatic non-sustained ventricular tachycardia (NSVT) detected on permanent pacemaker (PPM) interrogation was assessed 582 patients with long-term pacemakers. These participants were recruited at a tertiary cardiac center as part of a prospective observational cohort study and were followed for 4 ± 1.96 years (mean ± SD). Recording of any symptoms and ventricular high-rate episodes was carried out at each subsequent pacemaker check. Seventeen patients with incomplete data were excluded. Findings revealed no association of asymptomatic NSVT, identified on PPM interrogation, with increased mortality, therefore, it remained unproven whether there is any benefit to treatment to suppress this arrhythmia.
