Prognostic significance of Helicobacter pylori-infection in gastric diffuse large B-cell lymphoma
BMC Cancer Sep 06, 2019
Cheng Y, et al. - Researchers examined patients with primary de novo gastric diffuse large B-cell lymphoma at the West China Hospital of Sichuan University (January 2009 to May 2016) to determine the prognostic significance of Helicobacter pylori infection in these patients. They analyzed the clinical features of the patients. They performed urease breath tests and histologic examinations to determine H. pylori status. A median follow-up of 52.2 months was performed. Significantly better 5-year progression-free survival and overall survival were observed in patients with H. pylori infections vs the H. pylori-negative subgroup. Overall, the potential of H. pylori status as a promising predictor of disease outcome was suggested for this patient populace. Due to the tendency of patients with negative H. pylori status to have a worse outlook, these patients require careful follow-up.
