Prognostic significance of heart rate turbulence parameters in patients with noncompaction cardiomyopathy
Cardiology Apr 17, 2019
Bugan B, et al. - In this study including 60 noncompaction cardiomyopathy (NC) patients and 70 healthy controls, researchers evaluated cardiac autonomic functions and their impact on mortality in NC patients. They evaluated heart rate turbulence (HRT) parameters, including turbulence onset (TO), turbulence slope (TS), standard deviation of NN intervals of all normal beats (SDNN) and mean RR interval by performing 24-hour Holter recording among all participants. Compared with the control group, higher levels of TO and lower TS levels were seen in NC patients. In comparison to healthy subjects, abnormal HRV and HRT parameters were seen among NC patients. In NC, mortality was independently predicted by impaired HRT reaction. LVEF ≤0.40 and TS ≤2.5 ms/RR interval were the only independent predictors of mortality after multivariate analysis.
