Prognostic nutritional index as a prognostic marker in glioblastoma: Data from a cohort of 282 Italian patients
Journal of the Neurological Sciences Apr 05, 2019
Rigamonti A, et al. - In this Italian, multicentre, retrospective, cohort study involving 282 people with a newly diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), researchers assessed the impact of prognostic nutritional index (PNI) on overall survival (OS), after adjusting for known prognostic factor (age, extent of surgery, Karnofsky performance status, radiochemotherapy). In the series of GBM patients, univariate and multivariate analysis did not reveal a link between PNI and overall survival. Overall, the investigators suggested that PNI is a controversial marker for GBM patients' prognosis and further prospective studies are needed to clarify their role.
