Prognostic impact of branch vessel involvement on computed tomography vs clinical presentation of malperfusion in patients with type a acute aortic dissection
The American Journal of Cardiology Jun 16, 2021
Hashimoto O, Saito Y, Nakayama T, et al. - This study was carried out to assess the prognostic impact of branch vessel involvement on computed tomography vs clinical presentation of malperfusion in patients with type a acute aortic dissection. A total of 703 patients with type A acute aortic dissection (AAD) were included in this multicenter registry. They ascertained longitudinal extent of dissection and intramural hematoma on CT. It was shown that branch vessel involvement on CT was not always correlated with end-organ malperfusion in patients with type A AAD, particularly in cerebral and visceral arteries. The results showed that the clinical evidence of malperfusion was significantly associated with in-hospital mortality beyond branch vessel involvement on CT.
