Prevalence of coronary vasospasm using coronary reactivity testing in patients with spontaneous coronary artery dissection
The American Journal of Cardiology Apr 06, 2019
Solaru KW, et al. - Researchers described the experience of coronary vasospasm testing in those with a past history of spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) and assessed the relationship between SCAD and coronary vasospasm. They defined the positive vasospasm as total/subtotal occlusion of a minimum of one major coronary artery triggered by ergonovine administration and resolution of this occlusion wit nitrates. They noted that 73% had screening for fibromuscular dysplasia; among those, 38% were determined to have the diagnosis. In the environment of ergonovine administration in the catheterization la, a positive vasospasm test was seen in only a single patient. In people with confirmed prior SCAD, there was a low prevalence of coronary vasospasm.
