Preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio as a new prognostic predictor after microsurgical subinguinal varicocelectomy
Andrologia Nov 09, 2018
Ates E, et al. - Researchers assessed if inflammation impacts the success of varicocelectomy using neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), an often-used indicator of systemic inflammation. They recorded the pre-operative demographic characteristics of 86 patients, as well as laboratory results such as hemogram, and semen analysis and clinical data. Findings suggested that the possibility of improvement in sperm parameters with varicocelectomy was adversely impacted by systemic inflammation. Furthermore, in the prediction of varicocelectomy success, NLR was seen to be an independent factor.
