Predictors of benign uretero-enteric anastomotic strictures after radical cystectomy and urinary diversion
Urology Jul 08, 2018
Katherine AA, et al. - Author ascertained the predictors of symptomatic uretero-enteric anastomotic strictures (UAS) formation following radical cystectomy (RC) and urinary diversion (UD). Higher BMI, ASA score >2, lymph node involvement, grade III/IV complications within 30 days, male sex, and a history of prior abdominal surgery (PAS) were the factors associated with increased risk of benign UAS. Findings suggested that while, for patients who undergo cystectomy for malignancy, surveillance is important, there was a possibility of it being beneficial for patients with history of PAS who undergo more intensive follow-up vs those patients without history of PAS.
