Predictive factors of treatment outcomes after percutaneous ablation of hepatocellular carcinoma in the caudate lobe: A retrospective study
BMC Cancer Jul 22, 2019
Liu B, et al. - In this retrospective study, researchers reviewed the experience of ultrasound-guided percutaneous ablation therapy for hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) located in the caudate lobe and examined the predictive factors of the treatment outcomes. The study sample consisted of 73 patients (mean age, 54.9 ± 11.6 years; age range, 25–79 years) with 73 HCCs in the caudate lobe. For a selected case with HCC in the caudate lobe, ultrasound-guided percutaneous ablation is a feasible treatment. Findings revealed that tumor size > 2 cm raises the local tumor progression risk and intrahepatic tumor number is linked to distant recurrence following ablation.
