Prediction of visual acuity after cataract surgery using optical coherence tomography findings in eyes with retinitis pigmentosa
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Aug 24, 2018
Mao J, et al. - In patients with retinitis pigmentosa (RP), authors gauged the predictive factors of visual acuity (VA) following cataract surgery. After cataract surgery, they noted that postoperative best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) improved in approximately half of the eyes in patients with RP. In order to predict postoperative VA, the important parameters are preoperative BCVA and the status of external limiting membrane (ELM) and central macular thickness (CMT). After cataract surgery, the mean BCVA was significantly improved from 0.80 to 0.45.
