Pre-exercise blood glucose affects glycemic variation of aerobic exercise in patients with type 2 diabetes treated with Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion

Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice May 10, 2018

Hu Y, et al. - Researchers explored how certain factors influenced the efficacy and safety of aerobic exercise in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) treated with Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Infusion (CSII). An aggregate of 267 patients with T2D, treated with CSII, were studied. Researchers reported that pre-exercise blood glucose (PEBG) was positively associated with aerobic exercise efficacy. When the PEBG >16.7 mmol/L, aerobic exercise will not worsen hyperglycemia. Better than other periods of the day, post-dinner exercise decreases blood glucose.
