Physical activity-related drivers of perceived health status in adults with congenital heart disease
American Journal of Cardiology Jul 24, 2018
Ko JM, et al. - Researchers explored the link between physical activity and perceived health status (PHS) in a large international cohort of adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) patients via this cross-sectional assessment using multivariable models. Self-reported health status was assessed using a linear analog scale of the EuroQol-5D 3 level version and the 12-item Short Form Health Survey - version 2. They used the Health-Behavior Scale-Congenital Heart Disease as a subjective measure of physical activity type, participation, and level. They reported physical inactivity in the majority of ACHD patients across the world. Seemingly, sport participation had a role as the primary physical activity-related driver of PHS. By promoting sport-related exercise, physicians may improve PHS in ACHD patients.
