Percutaneous coronary intervention techniques for bifurcation disease: A network meta-analysis reveals superiority of double kissing crush
Canadian Journal of Cardiology Sep 16, 2019
Crimi G, Mandurino-Mirizzi A, Gritti V, et al. - Via systematically reviewing RCTs, researchers determined the best percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) technique to manage patients with coronary bifurcation disease (CBD). The study sample consisted of patients undergoing CBD PCI that included several types of PCI techniques: PS, double kissing (DK)-crush, TAP, culotte, dedicated bifurcation stents, crushing, T-stenting and comparing device oriented clinical events (DOCE), a composite of cardiac death, target-vessel myocardial infarction, stent thrombosis, target lesion revascularization OR target vessel revascularisation, in a network meta-analysis. Twenty-six RCTs were included leading to a pooled population of 10,339 patient-years and a total of 1,229 DOCE. According to findings, the DK-Crush technique decreases DOCE in comparison to other bifurcation techniques based on all available RCTs when considering a two-stent strategy in a patient with CBD.
