Patients without comorbidities at the time of diagnosis of atrial fibrillation: Causes of death during long-term follow-up compared to matched controls

Andersson T, et al. – This study investigated the long–term, cause–specific mortality risk in patients without comorbidities at the time of diagnosis of atrial fibrillation (AF). In comparison with controls, only cardiovascular diseases were identified as the cause of more often death among these patients; the risk was markedly higher among women versus men.
