Patient satisfaction and self-reported dry eye symptoms in hyperopic patients treated with femtosecond laser in situ keratomileusis
Clinical Ophthalmology May 03, 2019
Mäkinen P, et al. - In order to study self-reported patient satisfaction and dry eye symptoms in hyperopic correction with femtosecond laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (FS-LASIK), researchers studied patients’ self-reported dry eye symptoms and satisfaction with near and far vision in ninety-eight eyes (53 patients) treated with FS-LASIK for hyperopia. An uncorrected distance visual acuity of 20/20 or better was achieved in 91% of the eyes with the plano target (54 eyes). Monovision patients reported significantly improved satisfaction with both near and far vision on undergoing FS-LASIK correction of hyperopia. Compared to preoperative values, dry eye symptoms did not change significantly postoperatively in hyperopic patients.
