Patient-reported burden of dry eye disease in the United States: Results of an online cross-sectional survey
American Journal of Ophthalmology Apr 12, 2020
Dana R, et al. - Researchers conducted this cross-sectional study to assess functional vision, general health status, and work productivity in adults ≥ 18 years with (n = 1,003) or without (n = 1,006) self-reported dry eye disease (DED). All participants undertaken the National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire and the EuroQol 5-dimensions 5-levels. All participants with DED finished the eye dryness score (EDS) visual analogue scale, Ocular Comfort Index, and Work Productivity and Activity Impairment questionnaire. Findings revealed that there is a substantial burden of DED on functional vision, general health status, and efficiency and further, these parameters tend to be deteriorating with increased EDS.
