Outpatient total hip arthroplasty in the united states: A population-based comparative analysis of complication rates
Journal of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Jan 04, 2019
Arshi A, et al. - Researchers assessed 2184 cases who underwent outpatient total hip arthroplasty (THA) and 73,596 subjects who underwent inpatient THA to ascertain the rate of complexity related with outpatient THA in comparison to standard inpatient THA. They noticed outpatients undergoing THA had a significantly lower rate of comorbid hypertension, cerebrovascular disease, obesity, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, and chronic kidney disease. They preferred outpatient THA as a safe and effective option with its potential to minimize arthroplasty care costs.
