Outcomes of hip arthroscopy with concomitant periacetabular osteotomy, minimum 5-year follow-up
Arthroscopy Mar 17, 2019
Maldonado DR, et al. - From October 2010 to December 2012, data were studied to quantify minimum 5-year follow-up consequences of concomitant hip arthroscopy preceding periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) to treat acetabular dysplasia and intra-articular pathologies like femoroacetabular impingement syndrome and labral tears. Incline in the mean lateral center-edge angle from 14.2° to 31.8° and the anterior center-edge angle from 11.9° to 28.6° were reported. The decline in Tonnis angle of acetabular inclination from 19.3° to 2.6° and alpha angle from 55.7° to 41.0° were also noticed. No progression of arthritis in radiographs taken was recorded at the last clinical visit with all preoperative radiographs Tonnis ≤1. They found significant improvement in all patient-reported outcome scores from preoperative baseline to the minimum 5-year follow-up scores.
