Outcome of catheter ablation of supraventricular tachyarrhythmias in cardiac sarcoidosis
Clinical Cardiology Sep 10, 2019
Willy K, Dechering DG, Wasmer K, et al. - Whether inflammation hinders treatment and ablation of supraventricular tachycardia in patients with cardiac sarcoidosis was investigated in this study. Participants included 37 consecutive patients with cardiac sarcoidosis who presented with atrial tachyarrhythmias. Over 6 years (2013-2019), these patients underwent an electrophysiologic study. A total of 16 catheter ablations were performed. Participants were observed for a mean duration of 2.5 years. During follow-up, all but two patients with atrial fibrillation showed no clinical recurrence. A very high periprocedural safety was reported. In this patient population, the safety and efficacy of catheter ablations of supraventricular tachycardias was suggested, and the outcome was found to be comparable to patients without inflammatory heart disease.
