Optical coherence tomography angiography and macular vessel density analysis of cystoid macular edema in gyrate atrophy
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Jul 31, 2019
Raval V, et al. - Researchers carried out this investigation in order to understand the microvascular abnormalities in cystoid macular edema (CME) in gyrate atrophy. In four consecutive female patients (eight eyes) with clinically and biochemistry-confirmed cases of gyrate atrophy and associated CME, spectral-domain optical coherence tomography and OCT angiography (OCTA) were utilized. Data reported that the average age was 20 years. It was noted that the mean refractive error was −6.5 diopters (D) (range: −1.0 D to −11.0 D) and the average central macular thickness was 509 μm (range: 291 μm to 750 μm). According to findings, OCTA helps to understand the fundamental mechanisms of pathophysiology in choroid gyrate atrophy as well as CME etiology and macular schisis.
