One-year healthcare utilization for patients that received endovascular treatment compared with control
Stroke Jun 06, 2019
Kamal N, et al. - Since endovascular therapy was shown to be extremely effective based on 90-day modified Rankin Scale score, using the ESCAPE trial (Endovascular Treatment for Small Core and Anterior Circulation Proximal Occlusion With Emphasis on Minimizing CT to Recanalization Time) and registry data, researchers studied actual daily healthcare usage from onset of stroke to 1 year later. In total, 286 patients were examined, with 52 patients in the treatment arm, and 47 patients in the control arm of the ESCAPE trial, and 187 patients received endovascular therapy as usual care (2016/2017 fiscal year). According to findings, endovascular therapy significantly lowers the use of healthcare up to 1 year after a stroke.
