Noninvasive long-term ECG monitoring vs loop recorder implantation for the atrial fibrillation management
Annals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology Jul 29, 2019
Mamchur SE, et al. - In patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), the efficacy of a noninvasive ambulatory ECG monitoring (NIAM) vs implantable loop recorder (ILR) was assessed. Randomization of 32 patients (58 [47; 73] years of age) into two groups was done; in group I (n = 15), invasive ECG monitoring was done using the “Reveal XT” ILR up to 3 months, and in group II (n = 17), NIAM up to 14 days was done using the “Spyder” device. Data results revealed the comparable diagnostic ability of NIAM and ILR in patients with paroxysmal AF. No additional diagnostic information is gained with an increase in the duration of ECG monitoring for longer than two weeks.
