Night-shift work duration and risk of colorectal cancer according to IRS1 and IRS2 expression
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Dec 18, 2019
Shi Y, Liu L, Hamada T, et al. - In the study, experts documented a total of 77,470 eligible women having night work evaluated in the Nurses’ Health Study, to assess whether the risk of colorectal cancer in night-shift workers could be distinctive according to insulin receptor substrate status. Our molecular pathologic epidemiology data suggest a potential role of IRS in mediating carcinogenesis induced by night-shift work. However, these findings require authentication, rotating night shifts could enhance colorectal cancer risk in women with abnormal insulin receptor pathways.
