Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio predicts poor outcomes after acute ischemic stroke: A cohort study and systematic review
Journal of the Neurological Sciences Sep 06, 2019
Wang L, Song Q, Wang C, et al. - In this investigation involving 808 patients from the registry database (Chengdu stroke registry) and 9,563 patients from previous studies, researchers determined the connection of admission neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) with major clinical poor outcomes after acute ischemic stroke. In addition, the predictive accuracy of admission NLR in different outcomes was calculated. Findings suggested a positive association of higher NLR with the risk of hemorrhagic transformation and 3-month death after stroke. For 3-month death, NLR had the highest predictive precision. In view of a single biomarker's limited predictive capacity, more studies should validate NLR's role in prognostic models.
