Neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio predicts in‐hospital complications in Takotsubo syndrome: Results from a prospective multi‐center registry
Clinical Cardiology Aug 12, 2020
Santoro F, Guastafierro F, Zimotti T, et al. - Whether in‐hospital complications (IHCs) in Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) patients could be predicted by hematological indices at admission was investigated, using a multicenter prospective registry with 160 consecutive patients with TTS. An incidence of 37% was reported for IHCs, including pulmonary edema 9%, cardiogenic shock 9%, requirement of invasive ventilation 10%, mortality 8%, stroke 2.5%, and left ventricular thrombi 6%. Overall, in patients admitted with TTS, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio was identified as an independent predictor of IHCs. Admission hemogram was suggested to be a potential tool for prediction of IHCs in TTS.
