Nesiritide enhances urine output in decompensated advanced heart failure patients

Shuster JE, et al. – Efficacy of and predictors of responsiveness to nesiritide in HF patients with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) was investigated by studying the clinical course of advanced HF patients with ADHF who received nesiritide infusion (NES). In this patient population, a marked increase in UOP was obvious consequent to nesiritide use as an adjunct to loop diuretics. Female sex and low serum Na were predictors for efficacy.
