Agarwal MA, Fonarow GC, Ziaeian B, et al. - Increase in national heart failure (HF) hospitalizations (overall hospitalizations, unique hospitalizations, and readmissions) occurred from 2014 onwards.

  • The Nationwide Readmission Database from January 1, 2010, to December 31, 2017, yielded data of a total of 8,273,270 HF hospital admissions with a single primary HF admission present in 5,092,626 unique patients, and 1,269,109 had 2 or more HF hospitalizations.

  • There was a decline in crude rates of overall and unique patient hospitalizations for primary HF admissions from 2010 to 2014, followed by an increase from 2014 to 2017.
