N‐terminal pro‐brain natriuretic peptide and short‐term mortality in acute aortic dissection: A meta‐analysis

Clinical Cardiology Aug 05, 2020

Vrsalovic M, et al. - Whether N‐terminal pro‐brain natriuretic peptide (NT‐proBNP) is related to short‐term mortality in patients encountering acute aortic dissection (AAD), was investigated via this meta‐analysis. All observational cohort investigations published prior to January 2020 that compared short‐term mortality among patients with AAD with high vs low levels of baseline NT‐proBNP were identified from Medline and Scopus. This analysis involved four studies with 950 patients, and 105 (11%) patients died. Findings revealed the presence of an increased risk of short‐term mortality in relation to elevated NT‐proBNP levels on admission in patients experiencing AAD.
