Mutation patterns in a population-based non-small cell lung cancer cohort and prognostic impact of concomitant mutations in KRAS and TP53 or STK11
Lung Cancer Mar 22, 2019
La Fleur L, et al. - In a population-based non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cohort, researchers studied mutational patterns and associated clinical parameters. They analyzed 352 patient samples from either fresh frozen or formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissues to determine mutational status of 82 genes by using targeted resequencing. Adenocarcinoma patients exhibited a high frequency of KRAS hotspot mutations (43%) but except this, the mutation frequencies and the frequencies observed in other western populations. Survival influence of isolated driver mutations could not be corroborated. In the KRAS-positive adenocarcinoma subgroup, poor survival was observed in relation to concurrent mutations in TP53 and STK11.
