Multimorbidity patterns in old adults and their associated multi-layered factors: A cross-sectional study

BMC Geriatrics Jun 23, 2021

Lu J, Wang Y, Hou L, et al. - This research sought to distinguish characteristics and associated multi-layered factors based on health ecological models. Researchers enrolled a total of 7,480 participants aged 60+ by using a multi-stage random cluster sampling method in Shanxi province, China in 2019. They used latent class analysis to discriminate the multimorbidity patterns in old adults, and hierarchical regression was conducted to ascertain the multi-layered factors correlated with their various multimorbidity patterns. They should prioritize both the “lifestyle change”-centered systematic management strategy and group-customized intervention programs in management of old patients with multimorbidity.
