Multi-disease deep-learning neural network for the diagnosis of corneal diseases
American Journal of Ophthalmology Feb 04, 2021
Elsawy A, Eleiwa T, Chase C, et al. - In the present study, the researchers reported a multi-disease deep-learning diagnostic network (MDDN) of common corneal diseases: dry eye syndrome (DES), Fuchs’ endothelial dystrophy (FED), and keratoconus (KCN) utilizing anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) images. In total, 158,220 AS-OCT images from 879 eyes of 478 patients were used to develop and validate a classification deep network. Findings suggested that MDDN is a novel diagnostic tool for corneal diseases that can be used to diagnose KCN, FED, DES automatically using only AS-OCT images.
