Methods for assessing forward and backward light scatter in patients with cataract

Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery Sep 21, 2017

Crnej A, et al. - This study was executed in order to compare the objective methods for assessing backward and forward light scatter and psychophysical tests in patients with cataracts. It was determined that forward and backward light-scatter measurements could not be used interchangeably. Scatter as an aspect of quality of vision appeared to be independent of acuity. Measuring forward light scatter with the straylight meter could serve as a beneficial additional instrument in preoperative decision-making.
