Biancari F, et al. - Researchers performed a meta-analysis to assess the outcome as well as the efficacy of postcardiotomy venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) in adult patients. Following adult cardiac surgery, one-third of patients unresponsive to any other resuscitative treatment may be salvaged by VA-ECMO, as demonstrated by pooled data.
