Meta-analysis of relation of skipping breakfast with heart disease
The American Journal of Cardiology Jul 22, 2019
Takagi H, et al. - Researchers sought to assess the relationship between skipping breakfast and heart disease via the first meta-analysis of currently available epidemiological studies on this topic. The present meta-analysis included eight eligible studies with a total of 284,484 participants. Combining hazard ratios (HRs) for Q1 (first quartile, most skipping breakfast) vs Q4 (fourth quartile, least skipping breakfast) from three studies together with other HRs/odds ratios, the primary meta-analysis showed skipping breakfast correlated with a significantly higher risk of heart disease. Findings confirm that skipping breakfast is related to the increased risk of heart disease.
