Meta-analysis for impact of statin on mortality after transcatheter aortic valve implantation
The American Journal of Cardiology Jul 24, 2019
Takagi H, et al. - The link between statin (hydroxymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase inhibitor) treatment and midterm survival post-transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) was investigated by analyzing all observational comparative studies and randomized controlled trials of statin vs control (no statin) therapy or cohort investigations examining statin treatment as one of covariates in patients undergoing TAVI, via this first meta-analysis addressing this topic. The included studies were identified from PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Overall eight eligible studies with 5,170 TAVI patients were analyzed. Findings revealed a better midterm survival post-TAVI in relation to statin therapy.
