BMC Cardiovascular Disorders Sep 13, 2017
Sverre E, et al. - The goal of this investigation was to identify the potentially modifiable medical, sociodemographic and psychosocial factors, comprising the study factors, related to unfavourable risk factor control after coronary heart disease (CHD) events. An association of low socioeconomic status, prior duration of smoking, and not having ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) as index event with persisting smoking was illustrated in the findings. Persistent smokers, despite having an acceptable risk perception and being motivated to cease smoking, required help through cessation programs including prescription of pharmacological aids.
