Mean platelet volume and long-term cardiovascular outcomes in patients with stable coronary artery disease
Atherosclerosis Sep 07, 2018
Wada H, et al. - The effect of pre-procedural mean platelet volume (MPV) levels in patients after elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) was investigated by studying 2,872 stable coronary artery disease (CAD) patients who underwent their first PCI and who had available data on pre-procedural MPV between 2002 and 2016. Cardiovascular events were more frequently encountered among patients with low MPV values. Researchers identified a significant association between a decreasing MPV levels and poor clinical outcomes. These results do not support the report from previous studies on acute coronary syndrome patients.
