Management of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction after ESC 2016 heart failure guidelines: The Linx registry
ESC Heart Failure Jan 16, 2020
de Frutos F, Mirabet S, Ortega-Paz L, et al. - A novel version of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Guidelines for the management of heart failure (HF) was issued in May 2016, researchers report the management of HF with reduced ejection fraction following the publication of ESC Guidelines. In a multicentre, observational, cross-sectional study, the Linx registry, they analyzed 1,056 patients with HF and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (≤ 40%) who were enrolled in 14 Catalan hospitals from 1 February to 30 April 2017 in outpatient cardiology clinics. They contrasted outcomes between hospitals based on their level of complexity in their own registry and relative to earlier published registries similar to theirs. Although an appropriate adherence to pharmacological recommendations from ESC HF Guidelines was demonstrated in the Linx registry, reaching target doses was reported in a low proportion of patients. A few months following ESC HF Guidelines recommendations, approximately one-quarter of patients were under treatment with sacubitril/valsartan.
