Loosening of transtibial pullout meniscal root repairs due to simulated rehabilitation is unrecoverable: A biomechanical study
Arthroscopy Mar 16, 2019
Steineman BD, et al. - Researchers examined 16 cadaveric ovine knees to know the effect of displacement due to rehabilitative loading on the recovery of meniscal root repairs. They observed significant, unrecoverable loosening from rehabilitative loading in single- and double-tunnel meniscal root repairs. Gradual displacement of root repairs with continued loading was noticed instead of reaching an equilibrium displacement after 10,000 cycles. Macroscopically, they observed cut out of sutures of the meniscus in both single- and double-tunnel repairs.
