Loop diuretic change in patients with chronic heart failure: Insights from HF-ACTION

Fudim M, et al. – A large randomized chronic heart failure (HF) trial assessed the link between diuretic use (continuous, never, initiation or discontinuation) and changes in quality of life (QOL), exercise capacity, hospitalization and mortality. Compared with treatment–naive patients, chronic HF patients using continuous oral diuretic from baseline to 6 months exhibited similar all–cause mortality/hospitalization and increased CV mortality or HF hospitalization but no significant differences in QOL or exercise capacity.
