Long-term prognostic significance of ventricular repolarization dispersion in patients with cardiac sarcoidosis

The American Journal of Cardiology Jun 16, 2021

Kobayashi Y, Nagai T, Takenaka S, et al. - Among patients experiencing cardiac sarcoidosis (CS), this investigation was carried out to examine if T-peak to T-end interval to QT interval ratio (TpTe/QT) on electrocardiograms (ECG) was related to long-term clinical results in this population. Researchers assessed 90 consecutive patients with CS in 2 tertiary hospitals who offered ECG data prior to the start of immunosuppressive therapy. A composite of advanced atrioventricular block, ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation, heart failure hospitalization, and all-cause death, was set as the primary outcome. Findings revealed that worse long-term clinical results, particularly fatal ventricular arrhythmic events, occurred in relation to a higher TpTe/QT among patients with CS, indicating the importance of evaluating TpTe/QT as a surrogate for risk stratification in these patients.
